Philippe Dufour Story

"Roof & BEAKS"

The history and significance of ancient Chinese architectural roofs are valuable and far-reaching. It was inspired by the phoenix, basalt, suzaku, and other beasts of prey.

The imposing and sharp beaks of the lily of the valley and the phoenix are often used in roof decoration. It manifests itself in various roof forms such as far-reaching eaves, elastic eaves curves, slightly curved corners and crossed ridges, giving the building a unique and strong visual effect and artistic appeal.

The incorporation of different implied motifs on the different architectural elements not only adds to the aesthetic appeal but also has a special significance as a symbol of the owner's identity and a prayer for peace.

The façade corner carvings created by the Philippe Dufour brand have a common meaning and a feature that cannot be ignored —— they highlight identity and value while embodying beauty.

So, I chose asian building roof as the visual element to create the 'beaks'

"Buring Magazine"

At the beginning of Philippe Dufour's watchmaking career, his financial situation was so bad that he couldn't even pay for his children's school fees. The financial and family burdens were very difficult for him during that time.

After working with a magazine, he managed to sell his first watch and gradually became famous.

For Philippe Dufour, his experience in magazines was an important point in his career, as he allowed watch lovers to discover his excellence and supported him in his watchmaking journey.

So I used 10-30 magazines overlapping and burning to create a unique and beautiful effect.

The papers burn together, but each one is a separate variation, a random and natural effect that reflects the value and diversity of different people in society.

"Everyone will be REVEAL uniquely beautiful"

Floating Cigarette Ash

Pipe smoking is a habit and a hobby of Philippe Dufour. It is also one of his ways to relax. He spends most of his life in his studio making watches, and the beauty of the interplay of smoke and the light from his headlamp inspired me to use the accumulation and floating of cigarette ash to create SENIOR.

The accumulation of soot represents time, and in this accumulation of dust, Philippe Dufour's love for watchmaking is reflected

”Perhaps only smokers understand the freedom of Smoke ashes“.

When the elements run through the life of the narrated person, they are like blood, making the newspaper no longer cold.
